Spencer Doran compiled the set for Light In The Attic's Japan Archival Series, drawing a line from Brian Eno's ambient work and Erik Satie's furniture music to pieces made for specific rooms and commercial spaces. The program includes Haruomi Hosono, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Joe Hisaishi, Hiroshi Yoshimura, Yoshio Ojima, and Satoshi Ashikawa, with cues written for Muji stores, a Sanyo air-conditioner promo LP, and a Seiko watch advert.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis Pearl Sunrise edition is a 3LP set pressed at Optimal, with liner notes, artist bios, and an essay by Doran. The cover photograph by Osamu Murai shows buildings designed by Fumihiko Maki.
