A landmark of experimental music and the spiritual predecessor to AKIRA, Ecophony Rinne stands as one of the most ambitious sonic achievements ever recorded. Originally released in 1986, this four-movement symphony from Geinoh Yamashirogumi merges ancient musical traditions, ethnographic field recordings, and cutting-edge 1980s technology into a single transcendent work. Led by polymath Tsutomu Ōhashi (Shoji Yamashiro), the collective of more than 200 musicians created a vast sonic ecosystem that meditates on nature, life, death, and rebirth through sound.

This new edition is half-speed mastered at Abbey Road by Miles Showell and represents the first vinyl release that reproduces Ōhashi’s groundbreaking Hypersonic Effect theory - embedding ultra-high frequencies beyond the limits of human hearing into analog grooves. The result is a listening experience that is felt as much as it is heard, restoring the full emotional and physical impact of this visionary album. Featuring Tibetan horn synths, Javanese Jegog, African forest recordings, Buddhist chants, massive choral passages, and acoustics captured from temples and caves, Ecophony Rinne remains a singular achievement that continues to influence electronic, film, and avant-garde music worldwide.
