Description
Description
Ongaku Zukan ("Musical Encyclopedia") is Ryuichi Sakamoto's fourth solo album, cut in Tokyo after his Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence score and the pause in Yellow Magic Orchestra. First issued in Japan in 1984 on his School label, it moves between electronic, jazz, and experimental styles, with contributions from Haruomi Hosono, Yukihiro Takahashi, Yasuaki Shimizu, Tatsuro Yamashita, and Toshinori Kondo.
This WEWANTSOUNDS edition is the first international vinyl release of that Japanese LP + 7" configuration. Audio is remastered by Saidera Mastering in Tokyo, pressed as a black LP with a bonus 7" of Replica and Ma Mère l'Oye, and housed in the original gatefold artwork with an OBI strip plus a two-page insert and new liner notes by Andy Beta.
