Ryukyu Rare Groove Revisited shines a light on the vibrant pop music of Okinawa’s golden age. Spanning 1957–1978, these rare recordings blend Western rock, soul, and tropical grooves with Okinawa’s distinctive traditional scales, creating a hybrid sound that is both familiar and wholly unique.

Curated from the acclaimed Ryukyu Rare Groove (2003) and Ryukyu Rare Groove 2 (2006) releases, this updated edition features carefully chosen highlights plus newly added tracks, pressed to vinyl with authentic Japanese-style obi strip. The compilation includes music from pioneering artists like Shokichi Kina (father of Okinawan folk rock), the legendary Yara Families, and Mitsuko Sawamura, who bridged Okinawan traditions with American musical films.
