Description

Thanatos Of Funk is a true underground milestone: entirely self-produced, designed, and originally distributed in 1985 by Minoru “Hoodoo” Fushimi - high-school teacher by day, DIY music experimenter by night. Built on drum machines and synthesizers but driven by striking shamisen and guitar work, it lands in a unique zone between electro-funk and early hip hop aesthetics, with a distinctly Japanese counter-culture edge.

This reissue finally makes a cult, near-mythical record accessible again, with careful restoration and a fresh lacquer cut at Timmion Cutting Lab. The package also preserves the original intent: a 4-page insert reproducing Fushimi’s hand-written comic, now presented with English translations, turning the album into a complete archival document rather than just a repress.
