Description

WAMONO A to Z Volume II shifts the spotlight squarely onto funk, documenting Japan’s rawest and most rhythm-driven recordings of the early to mid-1970s. These tracks prioritize heavy basslines, sharp horn arrangements, and uncompromising grooves, often drawing from film soundtracks, underground studio sessions, and experimental pop projects.

This volume captures the moment when Japanese musicians fully embraced funk’s physicality while retaining a uniquely local identity. The result is a collection that feels urgent, gritty, and deeply danceable - an essential counterpart to the broader scope of Volume I.
