Arranger Kiyoshi Yamaya shapes these sessions with a jazz musician’s discipline and a composer’s ear for structure, while koto legend Toshiko Yonekawa and shakuhachi master Kifu Mitsuhashi bring unmistakable timbre and phrasing that no standard rhythm-section record can replicate.
