Description

Eleki Bushi documents Takeshi Terauchi at full voltage, reworking traditional material through the lens of Japan’s electric guitar boom. In the wake of early rock & roll and the global impact of instrumental guitar bands, Japan developed its own guitar culture - Eleki - and Terauchi emerged as its defining hero, blending technological experimentation with a striking, percussive attack shaped by traditional string techniques.

Spanning recordings from 1966 to 1974, this compilation captures Terauchi’s most explosive “look inward” era: folk melodies transformed into fast, frenzied, and highly addictive electric performances. Pressed as a gatefold 180g edition with liner notes that frame the movement and its cultural moment, it’s an essential window into the electrified side of Japanese pop history.
